When we talk about determining confidence in a person, their words may not be the most reliable source for accessing this information. The reason: people can decide consciously to tell you anything they want. While words are important, it is critical to never forget that much of your communication will be non-verbal.
Every person should feel good about themselves. If you aren’t your number one fan first, odds are no one else will be either. After all statistics show that those people with high self-esteem tend to be more successful than those who are not. But can a person go too far with confidence? What does it mean to say someone is “over-confident”?
If you plan on accomplishing anything great in your life you MUST be confident in your abilities. Even someone like Helen Keller, who had tremendous obstacles to face in her own life, understood this when she said, “Never bend your head.
When you feel good about yourself, it is bound to be reflected in your relationships with others. Conversely, if you don’t have a positive outlook about the person you are, this too will have an impact on your relationships.
I’m willing to bet that if you asked a group of successful people about the keys to their success you’d hear one word repeated over and over again: Confidence.
